Founded in 2016 by noted transgender activist Atlantis Narcisse, the organization is proud to be able to provide a myriad of resources and peer led support for trans folks throughout the State of Texas.

Save Our Sisters United, Inc.’s strategy for social change and transgender empowerment fuses direct action, community organizing, direct services, mutual aid and statewide organizing as part of a multi-prong strategy towards transgender liberation.

S.O.S.U. boldly challenges stigma, creates spaces that foster solidarity, and works to build a future where Black transgender women are not only seen but celebrated as leaders, creators, and advocates.

Atlantis Narcisse is a trailblazing transgender human rights activist and founder of Save Our Sisters United, Inc. —a transformative organization rooted in the belief that liberation begins with community. A proud native of Houston and graduate of Texas Southern University, Atlantis has spent over two decades advancing the rights, visibility and empowerment of Black transgender women across Texas.

Recognizing the deep need for affirming spaces, Atlantis created SOSU as a sanctuary where Black trans and cisgender women come together in solidarity—challenging harmful narratives of division and emphasizing shared struggles and collective power. Through transformative advocacy, healing-centered programs, and resource navigation, SOSU stands as a vital force protecting the lives and dignity of some of the most marginalized in Texas.

Atlantis also founded the House of Capri (H.O.X), a chosen family dedicated to fostering self-care, empowerment, and belonging for LGBTQ+ individuals estranged from their biological families.

As a respected speaker and thought leader, Atlantis brings her lived experience to classrooms, boardrooms, and conferences—dismantling stigma and sparking vital conversations around gender, race, and justice. Her mission is clear: to mobilize and mentor Black trans women and trans women of color to thrive unapologetically in the face of systemic injustice.

Ms. Narcisse has garnered numerous accolades and affirmations in the social change sector for her tireless advocacy, most recently being honored as a Houston LGBT Pride Grand Marshal. She is a prolific writer, and an avid lover of nature and journaling, Atlantis Narcisse continues to reimagine what’s possible when black trans folks lead the way for our collective liberation.
